Darkened pedestrian promenade due to vandalism in San Bartolomé de Tirajana

Acts of vandalism have left the Santa Águeda Promenade or El Perchel in San Bartolomé de Tirajana without lighting, rendering 23 luminaires unusable and causing concern among users.

Over two consecutive weekends, the pedestrian corridor connecting El Pajar with the mouth of the Arguineguín ravine has suffered the destruction of its lighting system. The perpetrators tore out the light beacons, leaving some lying on the ground and others piled up at various points along the route.
This uncivil act has plunged a highly frequented promenade, used by both residents and tourists, into darkness, compromising nighttime safety. The incidents have already been reported to the National Police, who have launched an investigation to clarify what happened.

"Users urge the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council to replace the damaged lighting as soon as possible."

The promenade, which was built with a private investment exceeding two million euros, has become an essential public infrastructure for the municipality. The damage caused by vandalism adds to previous damage from storm Therese, which affected the section closest to the sea, behind the Perchel Beach Club, leaving part of the structure undermined and with pillars exposed. The City Council had already cordoned off this affected section.
