The Health Services Management of the Lanzarote Health Area, under the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has awarded the expansion works of the Tinajo Local Health Center to the company HORINSA, S.L. for an amount of €656,980.
The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, expressed his gratitude to the Lanzarote Management for considering his requests for the health center, on behalf of the residents.
The expansion project includes the creation of a new medical consultation room, a nursing consultation room, and a multipurpose room, which will add 131.42 square meters to the building's current surface area.
This expansion is necessary to meet the healthcare demand in this basic health area, which has experienced population growth in recent years.
The contract was awarded through a simplified open procedure, and the works have an execution period of four months.
The Tinajo Local Health Center, within the San Bartolomé Basic Health Area, serves a total of 6,607 individual health cards, of which 863 are for children.
The healthcare team at the center consists of four Family and Community Medicine doctors, one pediatrician, six nurses, one physiotherapist, one midwife, one nursing care technician, one social worker, and three administrative assistants.
Throughout the past year, the Tinajo Local Health Center recorded 36,898 Family Medicine consultations and 5,968 Pediatric consultations. The Nursing staff handled 21,821 consultations, Physiotherapy 2,399, the Midwife 675, and the Social Worker 754.
