The Rubicón Folklore Group held its traditional festival in Yaiza, as part of the Los Remedios Festivities, bringing together soloists and dancers from eleven folklore groups from Lanzarote. The event, under the slogan ‘Roots That Unite Us’, aimed to highlight the union between generations and municipalities through folklore.
The show, which spanned the seven municipalities of Lanzarote, featured dance couples from the groups Timbayba (Tinajo), Malpaís de La Corona (Haría), Guagime (Tahíche), Coros y Danzas (Arrecife), and Güerma (Tías). The voices of representatives from La Peña (San Bartolomé), Los Campesinos (Arrecife), Guanapay (Teguise), Gaida (Tías), and the parranda Los Buches (Arrecife) joined those of the hosts from Rubicón.
The audience enjoyed a wide repertoire of Canarian folklore, including isas, polkas, siote, folías, sorondongo, seguidillas, and malagueñas, performed by various generations of musicians, singers, and dancers.
The gala, hosted by announcer Francisco José Navarro and with a poetic introduction by Isabel Cabrera, was notable for its careful scenography and details. The festival has established itself as a significant folklore event in southern Lanzarote.
The gathering served to reaffirm the vitality of Canarian traditions, emphasizing the importance of new generations in their preservation and evolution, ensuring that folklore continues to be a living collective heritage.
The Los Remedios Festivities in Yaiza will continue until September 9th with a program of activities organized by the City Council.
