The Yaiza Vocal Group presented an innovative repertoire at the Los Remedios festivities, transforming poetic works by renowned authors into songs. The proposal, directed by Nuvi Tavío, premiered in the main hall of the Benito Pérez Armas House of Culture, on a stage decorated for the occasion, highlighting the union between music and literature.
The audience applauded the southern choir's previously unknown range. The concert began with the performance of ‘Esta tierra’, a work by poet Francisco Pino, which describes the essence of the Castilian landscape. Later, the group tackled ‘Gran Canaria’, by writer Pedro García, and traveled to South America to perform ‘Si Buenos Aires no fuera así’, by Argentine author Eladia Blázquez, a piece celebrating love and a sense of belonging to the cosmopolitan capital.
Before continuing their journey through the American continent, the choral group returned to Spain to perform ‘Se equivocó la paloma’, by the poet from Cadiz, Rafael Alberti.
The concert's finale was memorable with ‘Gracias a la vida’, a musicalized poem composed 60 years ago by Chilean author Violeta Parra, whose most famous version is by Mercedes Sosa.
Subsequently, the trio Vientar Trío, composed of flutists Cielo Guzmán (Argentina), Rosalinda Pradillos (La Mancha), and Sara Valiente (Yaiza), offered a repertoire of six songs, including ‘Soy de aquí’ by Benito Cabrera and ‘Cuenca del repasador’ by Charly Guzmán. Sara Valiente expressed her emotion at performing in Yaiza, a stage she had not visited since her childhood.
The Councilor for Culture of Yaiza, César Rijo, highlighted the importance of musical expression and the participation of the invited groups in this artistic encounter during the Los Remedios festivities.
