The initiative, driven by the Department of Culture, led by Yurena Cubas, and the Department of the Elderly, directed by Macarena Olivero, seeks to infuse the “soul of more people” into an artistic creation. The work revives rosette structures crafted years ago by local artisans, which had never been exhibited, and enriches them with the participation of diverse generations.
Participants include students aged between 70 and 90, young people from a local institute, and residents who collaborated during the Canary Islands Day celebration in Mancha Blanca. All contributed their work and knowledge of the traditional technique associated with the rosette and cojinchi, resulting in a piece that represents the town and aims to reinforce a sense of belonging.
The “Community Rosette” will be installed vertically in the park of the Plaza del Calvario, next to a plaque, on a black volcanic stone wall at the park's entrance. It will feature a QR code to explain to residents and visitors the creation process and the identity of those involved.
“"The intention of this initiative is for the installation to have a special meaning for the community, to the point where someone can recognize in this 'community rosette' the work of their grandmother or their own contribution, demonstrating, once again, the deep respect of the people of Tinajo for their customs and traditions."
