The political group Movimiento Renovador de Tinajo has publicly reported that residents of El Rofero street have been without internet access since last November. According to the complaint, both the City Council, led by Coalición Canaria, and the telecommunications operator, presumed to be Telefónica, are blaming each other for the service disruption.
Following a written request for explanations to the municipal government, the official response from the City Council, issued on February 20, indicated that the solution requires work by the operator. This situation has led to the initiation of a file that, according to the council, is awaiting technical reports.
However, the operator maintains that the problem originated from an action by the City Council, which allegedly modified the location of a pole without the company's consent, leading to the opening of a file.
From Movimiento Renovador de Tinajo, it is pointed out that available information suggests one of the area's poles broke, and the City Council decided to relocate another that was obstructing the roadway, placing it next to a wall. This decision, although considered reasonable for road safety, is at the root of the conflict.
“"We support the removal of that pole from the road because it was an obvious danger and a serious accident could have occurred."
The political group warns that, if the operator's version is correct, this would demonstrate a lack of coordination by the City Council in not carrying out the necessary procedures with the company to avoid such problems. It is emphasized that the main affected parties are the residents, who have been without an essential service for five months.
Movimiento Renovador de Tinajo has urged the governing group to clarify the situation to those affected and to take urgent measures to restore internet service as soon as possible. The possibility that this situation could generate economic costs for the City Council in the form of compensation, ultimately borne by citizens, has also been mentioned.
“"We ask the Government of Tinajo to resolve this problem urgently. Residents cannot continue to be harmed by the lack of coordination and management."
