During a session at the Canarian Parliament, a request was made to prioritize the acquisition of already built properties to respond more quickly to the housing emergency. This measure aims to complement the Montaña Roja project, which includes the creation of 136 homes with an investment exceeding 35 million euros.
The situation in Playa Blanca, which has over 11,000 inhabitants, shows critical infrastructure gaps. The lack of municipal land transfer has stalled the construction of a Secondary Education Institute and the expansion of the local health center, in addition to keeping a sports pavilion closed for over four years.

The Government of the Canary Islands has confirmed that it will maintain the Montaña Roja project and will prioritize the purchase of unfinished buildings to expand the public housing stock. Currently, the Cabildo and the regional executive have allocated nearly 20 million euros to two initiatives that will add 118 homes to the public stock in the area, including the recent acquisition of 42 properties in Los Ajaches.
