Three cyclists will participate in this challenge, arriving this Saturday, September 19, at the Muelle de Los Cristianos at 5:00 PM. They will complete the Tenerife stage after a 116-kilometer ride with a 2,000-meter elevation gain, starting from the Puerto de Santa Cruz at 8:00 AM.
The initiative, conceived by Lionell Sánchez following his personal experience with leukemia, aims to raise 2,000 euros. This amount will allow the purchase of six classic and two semi-recumbent static bikes for patients in isolation areas of Gran Canaria hospitals. The donation campaign remains open.
The arrival in Arona will coincide with a blood donation drive organized by the Canary Institute of Hemodonación and Hemotherapy. The mobile unit will be at the Muelle de Los Cristianos on Saturday, September 19, from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM. This day also marks World Bone Marrow Donor Day.
The Gran Guanche challenge is supported by the Canaria Alejandro Da Silva Foundation against Leukemia, the Canary Institute of Hemodonación and Hemotherapy, the Vice-Ministry of Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, the involved city councils, and various companies.
