Electronic vehicle identification, automated license plate reading, and platform interconnection will enable objective knowledge of which vehicles access designated zones, verification of their conditions, and confirmation of corresponding authorizations. The council believes this measure aligns with the long-standing objective of ensuring taxi services at the airport operate with transparency, control, and full adherence to regulations.
The Councilor for Mobility and Transport, Óliver Navarro, described the action as a "great advance" for the municipality of Ingenio, highlighting the collaboration with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Aena, and the Local Police in establishing exhaustive control over taxi access and load within the airport precinct.
The coexistence of different transport modes at the airport necessitates adherence to Aena's regulations on access and circulation. The new automated and traceable technological systems will complement the work of coordinators and dispatchers, digitizing information on service provision. The experience of SGMAS, responsible for the dispatcher service, has been crucial in integrating these tools.
The combination of these systems will provide precise data on service reality, vehicle movements, peak demand periods, and the utilization of taxi and authorized pick-up zones. This objective and verifiable data is fundamental for future decisions regarding transport management at the airport.
