The incident, which occurred this Friday, April 24, has surprised both residents and visitors to the area. The magnitude of the smoke was such that it could be observed from various points in the south of the island, notably from the TF-1 highway.
The Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands confirmed receiving the alert and immediately activating the response protocol. Firefighters from the Tenerife Fire Consortium are already working at the scene, supported by officers from the Local Police of Arona and the National Police.
As a precautionary measure, the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) has dispatched a basic life support ambulance to the location. However, as of now, there have been no reports of injuries or individuals affected by smoke inhalation.
The causes that originated the fire and the exact source of the significant smoke plume are still unknown, and authorities continue to investigate to clarify the details of the event.
