This fair, organized by the Department of Economic Promotion, Employment, and Primary Sector of the Arona City Council, aims to bring Arona's cultural and ethnographic heritage closer to citizens, recognizing the work of local fishermen and keeping their experiences and traditions alive. Emphasis will be placed on artisanal coastal fishing, a pillar of the municipal economy and identity.
The event, running from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, will offer various activities to explore maritime culture. It will include an exhibition by the Fishermen's Guild Nuestra Señora de Las Mercedes and children's workshops in the afternoon. The program will also feature musical performances and cultural events.
Gastronomy will be a highlight with a show cooking session (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM) led by Diego Schattenhofer, executive chef of Taste 1973 (Michelin Star), alongside local fishermen. Following this, from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM, there will be a tasting of traditional fishermen's recipes from Los Cristianos.
Music and Canarian traditions will complete the program. Performances will include the Herederos de Chasna Cultural Association (6:30 PM), Grupo Vinomios Folk (8:00 PM), and Compañía Jeita with their show De Vuelta (9:30 PM).
The initiative is supported by the fishermen of Los Cristianos and funded by the European Social Fund and the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty.
