The Unión Sindical de Controladores Aéreos (USCA) and CCOO have called for indefinite strikes affecting control towers managed by Saerco. In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, this situation directly impacts the airports of La Palma and El Hierro, where passengers may experience disruptions to their travel plans.
Although Aena has guaranteed minimum service coverage, travelers are advised to check their flight status via airline applications and arrive at the airport well in advance to mitigate potential inconveniences. The lack of an agreement between the unions and the company suggests that operational problems could extend for several days.
With this strike, USCA and CCOO seek to force a structural solution to the problems faced by the company's air traffic controllers.
The unions' main demands include reinforcing staff, respecting rest periods, more stable shift planning, and working conditions that ensure operational safety. Despite previous meetings with the company, no consensus has been reached, leading to this pressure measure.
The situation has escalated to directly affect the operations of two key airports in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, creating uncertainty for thousands of passengers.
