The CajaCanarias Foundation premieres its 2026 Autumn Cultural program tomorrow, Friday, September 18, with the event "Laughter, Food, Television, and Social Media." The session, starting at 8:00 PM at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, will feature gastronomic journalist Mikel López Iturriaga, founder of El Comidista, and journalist and audiovisual analyst Mariola Cubells.
Both experts will discuss the connections, transformations, and excesses of gastronomy, television, and social media, which have become key stages of contemporary popular culture. The dialogue will combine humor, reflection, and a critical look at current society.
Gastronomy, television, and social media have become some of the great stages of contemporary popular culture.
Mikel López Iturriaga, known for making gastronomy accessible to the general public from a rigorous and entertaining perspective, will present a special live edition of "Aló Comidista," his advice column where he answers readers' questions.
For her part, Mariola Cubells, specializing in television and audiovisual culture, will analyze the evolution of gastronomy in the media, from traditional culinary programs to current television contests, where cooking has transformed into spectacle.
The conversation will also address the role of social media and how food has become a phenomenon of constant exposure, marked by trends and images.
The event promises to be engaging and fun, inviting reflection on what we eat, what we watch, and how we construct our daily narratives.
Tickets, with special prices for the Friends of the Foundation program, are available for purchase on the official website of the CajaCanarias Foundation.
