The competition, which brought together 168 judokas from 14 delegations, including international representation from Portugal and Norway, served to honor the memory of Santiago Ojeda, a key figure in Spanish and Canarian judo. The archipelago's athletes demonstrated a high level, earning four golds, three silvers, and four bronzes, in addition to several fifth and seventh places.
In the men's category, Andrew Mendoza Marrero was crowned champion in the -73 kg class. The heavyweight Canarian division also saw significant success, with Antonio Aixel Ramírez Pérez and Joan Lajo Coalla taking gold and silver respectively in the -100 kg category, and Alejandro Rojas Arencibia and Aimar Lobato Pérez achieving the same in the +100 kg class. The men's bronze medals were won by Filippo Facen and Samuel Alejandro Castellano Vivas in the -90 kg category.
The women's representation also achieved notable success. Valeria Lajo Coalla took gold in the +78 kg category, while Zaida Rodríguez Santana secured the silver medal, completing another double for Canarias. The medal tally was rounded out by bronze medals from Marta Monzó Pascual (-48 kg), Jacqueline González Caraballo (-52 kg), and Deguene Aisha Mbengue Ruano (-70 kg).
The organization, led by the Canarian Judo and Associated Sports Federation, presided over by Ángel Luis Calonge, received institutional support from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, through its Sports department directed by Aridany Romero, and the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council. The collaboration of clubs, coaches, referees, volunteers, and families was fundamental to the event's success.
