Eleven educational centers from six Canary Islands have been recognized for their pedagogical excellence, highlighting innovation in learning methodologies and the use of technology.

Public education in the archipelago is advancing its learning methodologies. The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands has officially published the definitive list of schools consolidating as benchmarks in pedagogical quality. A total of eleven centers from six islands comprise this map of academic excellence, where the CEIP Almácigo stands out prominently in the area of Digital Competence.
The institutional ceremony for the delivery of Educational Excellence Badges will take place on June 16 in La Gomera. The event will be presided over by the regional minister for the area, Poli Suárez, and will include delegations from the selected educational communities. The regional administration is awarding the implementation of projects that move away from traditional memorization to address disciplines such as manipulative mathematical reasoning, linguistic immersion, co-education, and technological innovation.
The CEIP Almácigo positions itself as an absolute benchmark in Digital Competence, organically integrating technology into daily dynamics and strictly in service of learning from the earliest stages. This methodology defines the institution's organizational structure and articulates communication channels with families, balancing technological innovation with reflection on the appropriate and ethical use of digital resources.
The list of distinctions includes the CEIP Cristóbal García Blairzy in the category of Equity, Inclusion, and Universal Accessibility, for the adaptation of its physical spaces. The EEI Almirante Antequera receives recognition in Linguistic Communication Competence for a project linking reading between the classroom and homes from an early age. The CEIP Los Quintana is awarded in Mathematical Competence thanks to a methodology based on manipulative reasoning, experimentation, and problem-solving, complemented by robotics.
The CEIP Los Tarahales obtains the distinction in Plurilingualism and Intercultural Education. In Co-education, Equality, and Affective-Sexual Education, two centers stand out: the IES Doramas, with an active student committee, and the CEIP San Sebastián. The IES José Zerpa consolidates in Pedagogical Leadership and Participatory Culture by involving families, teachers, and students in decision-making. The CEIP Puntagorda receives a mention in Educational Innovation for social impact initiatives.
The official list from the Ministry of Education is completed by the CEIP Guiguan, recognized in the section of Natural, Social, and Cultural Heritage of the Canary Islands for practical programs, and the IES Benito Pérez Armas, awarded in Coexistence, Well-being, and Student Protection for designing safe environments based on support, prevention, and active listening plans.
