Starting Thursday, May 28, Spain hosts the 4th edition of the Taco Championship, where over 50 establishments will compete for the title of Best Taco in Spain 2026. Canary Islands, with a single contender, dreams of victory.

The gastronomic competition, spanning 25 days, has its sights set on the Canary archipelago, which is vying for the national championship title for the first time. The representative from the Canary Islands is the establishment El Chile Verde, located in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.
This Tenerife-based eatery takes on the challenge of showcasing the islands' high culinary standards, blending tradition, technique, and innovation in every taco. Over the coming weeks, participants will present original creations featuring meats, fish, vegetables, and artisanal sauces.
The championship is characterized by its interactive format, where both the public and a jury of anonymous inspectors will decide the finalists. Customers who vote via tasting cards will be entered into a draw for an Apple Watch and can follow the contest on social media (@elmejortaco.es).
The grand finale will take place on June 30, featuring a blind tasting where a professional jury will definitively select the Best Taco in Spain 2026. The event is organized by Fenicia Marketing Gourmet and sponsored by Glovo, with institutional support from Hostelería de España and collaboration from Alsa and Klimer.
