The Directorate General for Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government has declared a wildfire pre-alert for Tenerife and Gran Canaria, effective from 08:00 on Sunday, May 24.

This decision is based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and is implemented under the Special Civil Protection and Emergency Response Plan for Forest Fires (INFOCA). The measure aims to mitigate risks associated with the upcoming weather conditions.
The heatwave is expected to bring temperatures reaching or exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, particularly in mid-altitude and mountain forest areas. Furthermore, relative humidity is forecast to drop below 30 percent, accompanied by warm, dry winds from the south and southwest in higher elevations.
Authorities are urging the public to exercise extreme caution and strictly follow established self-protection guidelines to prevent any fire incidents in natural areas.
