Carlos Ruiz, former player and until now director of the CD Tenerife youth academy, has announced his decision to leave the club after 13 years of association. The main reason cited by Ruiz is the impossibility of reconciling the demands of the position, which involve full dedication from early morning and weekends, with his "current family circumstances". Despite sadness over his departure, he expressed "immense gratitude" for the club's treatment.
From the stands, Ruiz will continue to support the team and trusts the positive atmosphere surrounding the club to "aspire to everything". He praised the commitment of the current board, mentioning Rayco García, Felipe Miñambres, and Antonio Porro, assuring that the club is "in very good hands". He also highlighted the work of the first-team coaching staff, led by Álvaro Cervera, and particularly the physical trainer Fito, whom he called "a crack".
“"If it were up to me, I would keep him. I would count on him for one more year."
Regarding the future of captain Aitor Sanz, Ruiz expressed his favorable opinion on his continuity. "This season he has shown that he is still capable of helping," he stated, recalling his commitment after relegation and describing his season as "spectacular" despite injuries. For Ruiz, a team in the Second Division "needs clear leaders in the locker room", a role that Sanz perfectly fulfills as a "spectacular leader in day-to-day training".
