The CB Canarias Foundation continues its work in promoting educational inclusion in the municipality of La Laguna. Two schools, CEIP Camino de la Villa and CEIP Cardonal I, will once again host these initiatives. CEIP Camino de la Villa will host the inclusive school for the fourth consecutive year, while CEIP Cardonal I will do so for the third. Both will resume their activities on September 16th.
On the same day, the 'Basketball among Adolescents' program will begin, now in its second edition at CEIP Cardonal I. This activity is designed for young people aged 15 to 20 and is part of the 'Basketball Program for all ages and different abilities-CEIP Cardonal I', promoted by the CB Canarias Foundation and the La Laguna City Council, through its Department of Social Welfare.
The Inclusive School at CEIP Cardonal I is aimed at students from 1st to 6th grade of Primary Education, including neurotypical children, those with intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The initiative is open to students from the school itself as well as from nearby schools.
At CEIP Camino de la Villa, the inclusive school will include students from the center and others from Apanate (Canary Association of Autism Spectrum Disorder). This school was a pioneer in implementing an inclusive school three years ago, chosen for its specialization in motor disabilities, and its model has served as a reference for other centers.
These schools receive support from the Government of the Canary Islands and the La Laguna City Council, through its Department of Social Welfare and Quality of Life. The DISA Foundation also actively collaborates in the development of these activities.
Among the adolescents participating in 'Basketball among Adolescents' are groups of unaccompanied minor migrants from organizations such as Don Bosco, Coliseo, Quorum Social 77, and Nuevo Futuro Tenerife. Campus Sansofé also contributes its collaboration. Last year, this youth group was invited by the University of La Laguna to participate in the Rector's Trophy and competed in the Ports of Tenerife Tournament, as well as playing friendly matches against youth teams from Juventud Laguna.
