The 'blanquiazul' team's triumph over Arenas de Getxo has reignited fan hopes and placed the club in an excellent position for promotion. The possibility of celebrating their return to the Hypermotion category could materialize as early as this Saturday in Ponferrada, during the match at El Toralín stadium, scheduled for 5:30 PM.
For promotion to be confirmed in the upcoming matchday, a combination of results is required: a victory for CD Tenerife at El Toralín and, prior to that, a defeat for Celta Fortuna in their away match against Pontevedra. Currently, the Vigo reserve team can only reach a maximum of 75 points, while the team led by the coach has accumulated 69 points, bringing the objective significantly closer.
Although caution prevails within the club, which avoids premature celebrations, the management has considered all possible scenarios. There is a high probability that the mathematical promotion will be celebrated at home, as desired by a large part of the fanbase, next Friday, May 1st, in the match against Barakaldo.
For promotion to occur on that date, the point difference at the end of the matchday would need to be nine or more, maintaining the current gap in the Group 1 standings. In that case, promotion could happen either through a stumble by Celta Fortuna against Osasuna B or through a victory for CD Tenerife against Barakaldo.
