The President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, has criticized the central government and Minister of Health, Mónica García, for their "disloyalty" in managing the health crisis of the cruise ship 'Mv Hondius', stating that the minister "doesn't give a damn" about what happens in the Canary Islands.

The President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, has reiterated her criticism of the Spanish Government's attitude, labeling it as "disloyal" in the health management related to the cruise ship 'Mv Hondius'. Dávila lamented that the Minister of Health, Mónica García, from the Más Madrid party, cares "a damn" about the situation in the archipelago.
These statements were made during an extraordinary plenary session of the Cabildo of Tenerife, which addressed island-specific measures in response to the war in the Middle East. Previously, socialist councilor Aarón Afonso had questioned Dávila's stance on the ship's reception, expressing shame for what he considered a lack of leadership in the face of a humanitarian and health emergency.
Dávila retorted that the Spanish Government's decision not to bring the ship to the Canary Islands, despite a hantavirus outbreak, was "unilateral". According to the president, both she and the President of the Canary Islands learned of the measure through a press release, which she believes demonstrates a lack of "co-governance and institutional loyalty" from the central executive.
The island president defended the relevance of her questions regarding health guarantees for the evacuation of 'Mv Hondius' passengers, suggesting they had inconvenienced the central government. Dávila stated that, unlike the central government, she knows "how to defend the Canary Islands" and will not remain "submissive and silent", but will continue to ask questions.

"She doesn't give a damn about what happens to this land. And she certainly showed me that in the meeting we were able to have."

In parallel, Dávila criticized the "disloyalty" of the central government, also led by the Socialist Party, and particularly the actions of Minister Mónica García, recalling her origins in Más Madrid.
