The Guardia Civil has dismantled a criminal organization in Tenerife with the arrest of ten individuals, allegedly specialized in violent robberies. The detainees used the ram-raiding technique to access businesses and employed machetes in attacks on jewelry stores and homes, primarily in the southern tourist areas of the island.
As reported by the Guardia Civil, the detainees, aged between 18 and 25, operated in the early hours using stolen cars from rental companies. They are linked to the theft of over 20 vehicles, which they used to crash into establishments. To hinder identification, they used ski masks, masks, changes of clothing, and fake license plates.
Judicial authority has ordered the provisional detention, communicated and without bail, of the three main accused. The criminal group committed various property crimes, including forced entry into pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, and gas stations through ram-raiding, as well as violent robberies in jewelry stores and homes.
The material damages caused by the destruction exceed 60,000 euros. The value of gold stolen from jewelry stores is estimated at 38,600 euros, and goods stolen from shops amount to 30,000 euros. The accused are linked to at least 35 criminal acts in a dozen municipalities in Tenerife, including Adeje, Arona, San Miguel de Abona, Granadilla de Abona, Guía de Isora, Santiago del Teide, Güímar, Candelaria, Fasnia, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, and Tacoronte.
The operation, named ‘Enjambre’ (Swarm), concluded with three simultaneous home searches in Adeje, Arona, and San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Stolen vehicles, tools such as mallets, crowbars, and shears, bladed weapons like machetes and knives, concealment materials, and numerous stolen gold jewels were seized. The investigation was led by the Court of Instruction number 3 of Arona and the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
