The plan includes the closure of on-ramps, restrictions for heavy goods vehicles, and the suspension of works on affected routes. The objective is to ensure the safety and fluidity of travel during the pontiff's stay on both islands.
The most significant disruptions will occur on June 11 in Gran Canaria, with dynamic closures on the GC-1 (southbound and northbound) and closures of exits towards the GC-500. The GC-31 will also face restrictions. In the afternoon, closures are planned for the GC-3 and the closure of a deceleration lane.
On June 12, before the Pope's transfer to Tenerife, new restrictions will be registered in Gran Canaria, affecting the GC-1 and GC-31 in the morning.
In Tenerife, closures will begin on June 12 on the paved road El Matadero and the TF-24 (road to La Esperanza). Subsequently, the TF-5 (towards Santa Cruz and La Laguna), the TF-13, the TF-152, and the TF-235 will be affected, with closures of access and on-ramps.
Additionally, restrictions will be applied to vehicles carrying goods over 7.5 tons and dangerous goods transport. In Gran Canaria, these will affect the GC-1, GC-3, and GC-31, while in Tenerife they will apply to the TF-1, TF-2, TF-4, and TF-5 for a significant part of the day.
The DGT will also request the temporary suspension of works and the right lane of the TF-4 will be reserved for authorized vehicles and buses. Measures may be modified according to safety needs and the progress of the visit.
