The CD Tenerife coach has been clear about the team's composition for the upcoming season. Following the recent promotion, the manager emphasized that no Primera Federación team could currently maintain its position in the Second Division without a significant overhaul. Although he avoided giving an exact number of new signings, he hinted that reinforcements are crucial to avoid difficulties in the silver category.
“"I believe that no Primera Federación team would currently stay in the Second Division. At least not in this year's. And not just us, none, unless by sheer luck."
The coach analyzed the increasing complexity of the Second Division, a category he knows well and which, according to him, “gets tougher every year” due to the presence of players with First Division experience. He stressed the importance of building the best possible team to compete effectively, aiming not only for permanence but also for the possibility of aspiring to more ambitious goals. He highlighted that the current level of the category is very high, with top-quality teams, players, and coaches.
One of the main challenges will be the salary cap, which is expected to be tight for CD Tenerife. This will necessitate a very precise selection of reinforcements, strategically investing every euro. The coach mentioned that the league places the club in the lower half of the table in terms of spending capacity, requiring clear and unified planning in sports management.
Regarding the immediate future, the coach also referred to the upcoming match against Unionistas de Salamanca, an opponent that has already defeated CD Tenerife this season. Despite the euphoria of promotion and the fatigue from celebrations, the coach expects the team to maintain its competitive level, always seeking victory in every match. For this game, the team will have significant absences due to suspension and injury, including Landázuri, Alassan, Marc Mateu, Dani Martín, and Jesús de Miguel. However, players with fewer minutes are expected to get their chance, such as Antal Yaakobishvili, who could make his starting debut.
