Since 2009, this photographer, known in the sports world as Amigos sureños, has been a constant presence in youth football in the southern region of Tenerife. His journey began at the Clementina Bello field in Buzanada, where he started photographing his son and, subsequently, the rest of the team.
The positive reaction from parents upon receiving photos of their children was a key impetus for him to fully immerse himself in this world. Over time, he established contact with referees and coaches, which allowed him easier access to the playing fields and to cover countless matches across the island.
“"Certainly, every day I enjoy going to the fields more."
Throughout these years, he has witnessed the growth of many players, from their first steps in children's football to reaching higher categories. Among the talents he has seen evolve, he recalls a goalkeeper from Guargacho who currently plays in Las Zocas, in Preferente, and a central defender who started at the Adeje Football School and is now part of UD Las Palmas, having debuted in the first division of Spanish football.
One of the most emotional moments of his career was when his own son debuted as a referee, an event he immortalized with special affection. His goal goes beyond capturing a play; he seeks to create lasting memories for the people who appear in his reports.
His photographs adorn personalized shin guards, home walls, jerseys, and birthday cakes. The greatest gratification, he confesses, is hearing parents thank him for the images of their children, which they treasure. During the pandemic, the sharing of his photos on social media by families made him understand the true dimension of his work, a legacy that documents the beginnings of boys and girls in the world of football in Tenerife.
