The Museum of History and Anthropology of Tenerife hosts the exhibition 'Entretelas: Tocarse, the Art of Dressing the Head', allowing the public to interact with historical pieces.

The Museum of History and Anthropology of Tenerife, specifically at the Casa Lercaro, will present a new edition of its initiative 'Entretelas' on July 16, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This event, which has previously focused on various textile themes such as bridal fashion or silk fabrics, will this time dedicate its focus to the art of dressing the head.
The exhibition, titled 'Tocarse: The Art of Dressing the Head', will showcase part of the museum's collection of Textile Arts, Garments, and Technologies. Pieces such as hats, headdresses, pamela hats, monteras, berets, veils, and mantillas, as well as hats linked to ritual dances, will be featured. These garments, present across all cultures and eras, served not only for climate protection but also as identity markers, communicating belonging, gender, status, age, profession, or territorial origin.
With the participation of textile and garment expert Juan de la Cruz, attendees will have the unique opportunity to observe and touch some of these pieces without the barrier of a display case, in an area usually closed to the public: the textile storage. The activity, limited to 15 people, will cost €10 per person and payment should follow the instructions from reception staff; inquiries can be made at 922 825 949. Coffee, tea, and pastries will also be provided.
