Heavy machinery is already operating on the slope of the road connecting to Bocacangrejo and La Nea beach. This area was severely affected by a road collapse during Storm Therese, which led to traffic restrictions and the installation of traffic lights to manage vehicle flow.
Following the completion of relevant technical studies, stabilization efforts are now underway. The company Traysesa is carrying out the intervention, with the support and technical direction of Mareva Ingeniería.
“"As this is an emergency work, neither the completion deadline nor the economic budget has been finalized; it will depend on how the work progresses and what is found on site."
Provisional safety measures remain active during the works. These include prohibiting circulation on the descending lane, except for residents of Bocacangrejo, and diverting access to La Nea beach via Radazul. Additionally, the affected area has been cordoned off, fenced, and signposted to minimize risks for road users.
The undermining of a section of sidewalk next to the descending lane of the road occurred during the early hours of March 20, at the peak of Storm Therese. This required immediate intervention by municipal services, with local police and civil protection personnel signaling the area and restricting traffic.
That period of rough seas also caused damage in other coastal areas. Radazul beaches suffered sand erosion due to strong waves, while the coastal front of Tabaiba experienced minor damage, mainly limited to garden areas without serious harm to promenades or solariums. Although these latter damages were resolved more easily, those to the slope require a more complex solution.
