A Jet2 flight originating from Tenerife and bound for Birmingham was forced to make an emergency landing in Portugal after the pilot suffered a suspected heart attack at high altitude.

The incident occurred on Jet2 flight LS1266. According to witnesses, flight attendants sought passengers with medical training due to the severity of the situation, while the co-pilot took control to rapidly descend towards Porto's Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport.
A passenger recounted to the British outlet The Sun the "chaos" onboard, with flashing lights and the plane's rapid descent causing children to cry. After landing, medical personnel attended to the affected pilot and urgently transferred him to a hospital.
The travelers remained at Porto airport for 13 hours before being able to continue their journey to the United Kingdom on a different aircraft with a replacement crew.
