The university's educational model is based on excellence, direct connection with the healthcare system, and a strong territorial identity. The Faculty of Health Sciences already offers consolidated programs such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Psychology, with over 12,000 students in the health sector nationwide.
A distinctive element of its methodology is clinical simulation, utilizing one of only two simulated hospitals in Spain accredited by the American Simulation Association. Furthermore, progressive exposure to clinical reality and interprofessional training from the first year are promoted, preparing future professionals to interact effectively in a hospital environment.
Collaboration with the sector is crucial. Since 2018, the university has maintained a strategic alliance with the Hospiten group, which has facilitated the development of university hospitals for research and clinical practice. The management emphasizes that this connection with the business fabric is fundamental for current education, highlighting over 52 active research groups and more than 400 scientific publications.
The institution addresses healthcare from a holistic perspective, known as “One Health,” which links human, animal, and environmental health. This approach places the patient at the center, prioritizing prevention, community health, and sustainability.
Currently, the European University of Canarias has 3,800 students and 32 degree programs. Its expansion plans include the construction of a new campus for Medicine in La Orotava and a university dental clinic in Santa Cruz. STEM areas are also being strengthened with new degrees in Artificial Intelligence and master's degrees in Industrial Engineering.
The goal is to continue attracting international talent, which already accounts for 16% of its student body. The management believes that the Canary Islands have great potential for attracting talent, describing the islands as a “unique learning laboratory” thanks to their connectivity and intercultural diversity. This strategy aims to enrich the educational experience for both local and international students.
