The incident occurred around 12:45 PM when the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 received an alert about an accident in an area of difficult access requiring urgent medical assistance.
Due to the complexity of the rescue, an extensive operation was activated, involving the Rescue, Emergency and Safety Group (GES) with its rescue helicopter, the Tenerife Fire Consortium, the Civil Guard, the Canary Emergency Medical Service (SUC), the Canary Police, and the Local Police.
After reaching the location by helicopter, GES rescuers and firefighters descended to the area and found the affected individual with a cranial trauma and in cardiorespiratory arrest. Emergency teams performed basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, but ultimately could not reverse the situation due to injuries incompatible with life.
Subsequently, another group of firefighters and Civil Guard agents accessed the site by land to authorize the aerial transfer of the body to the La Guancha helipad.
The other three individuals who were part of the canyoning group evacuated the area under their own power and were unharmed.
