Gran Canaria Celebrates San Juan with Bonfires, Music, and Fireworks

The island prepares for a magical night with events in Las Canteras, Telde, Mogán, and other locations.

The traditional San Juan night will be intensely celebrated across Gran Canaria this Tuesday, June 23rd, with thousands gathering at beaches and key locations for a celebration of fire, water, and music.

The San Juan festivities, imbued with mystical symbolism where fire purifies and water cleanses, will be celebrated in Gran Canaria with numerous options for an unforgettable evening. The island is gearing up to welcome thousands of attendees along its coasts and at significant sites.
At the iconic Playa de Las Canteras, a large turnout is expected. The Plaza de la Música will host performances starting at 10:00 PM with Álvaro de Luna, followed by Tataband and a DJ to liven up the party until midnight. Fireworks will illuminate the Los Muellitos area.
Telde will offer celebrations at various locations. In the Plaza de San Juan, DJ Abián Reyes will kick off the music at 9:00 PM, followed by Mrs Troupe and the Orquesta Furia Joven. Melenara Beach will host the 19th night parade of Los Mechones de Melenara at 10:00 PM, and the Grupo Acuarela will perform at midnight. In Siete Puentes, the traditional San Juan bonfire lighting will take place.
Mogán will celebrate the night at its beach starting at 9:00 PM with pineapple roasting and performances by the Mogán Artistic Schools. The grand bonfire and a pyrotechnic display will precede the party featuring Grupo Arena and DJ Cholo.
Playa del Inglés will commence the festivities at 8:00 PM with a batucada. Yet Garbey and La Mekánica by Tamarindos will perform, complemented by artistic proposals and a fireworks show. DJ Toni Bob will conclude the night after the fireworks display.
At Barranquillo de Pozo Izquierdo, tribute acts to La Oreja de Van Gogh ('La Otra Oreja') and Maná ('Rayando el Sol') will entertain, with DJ Ulises Acosta providing music. The night will culminate with aquatic fireworks at midnight.
Arucas will feature concerts by Los Salvapantallas (7:30 PM at Plaza de la Constitución) and Miguel Ríos (9:30 PM at Plaza de San Juan). Fireworks will be launched from the Montaña de Arucas at midnight, followed by Los 40 Classic and Da Igual, a rap battle, and a closing set by DJ Airam Vega.
The Valle de Agaete will celebrate with a parade starting at 8:30 PM, the bonfire lighting at Parque Antonio Eusebio 'El Sabillo' at 9:00 PM, pineapple roasting, and a performance by the Agrupación Folclórica Cultural Berbique Valle de Agaete.
Tenteniguada will begin early with 'caracoleda' and authorized bonfires from 6:00 PM. Batukada Paixa will perform at 11:00 PM, followed by the 29th edition of the Night of Witches and a pyrotechnic show. The festivities will continue with DJ Promaster and the orchestra Leyenda Joven into the early morning.
Sardina de Gáldar will have a parade at 10:00 PM and music by Línea DJ at 11:00 PM. The night will be rounded off with a display of aquatic and aerial fireworks at midnight.
In Artenara, the Plaza de San Matías will be the focal point with the San Juan bonfire, along with pineapple and potato roasting for attendees. The celebration will be accompanied by music from DJ Airam Vega.
