Hiker airlifted in Adeje after allergic reaction to insect bite

A 64-year-old man was hospitalized after experiencing a moderate anaphylactic reaction on a trail in Tenerife.

A 64-year-old man was airlifted this Monday, April 20, in Adeje, Tenerife, after suffering a moderate anaphylactic reaction from an insect bite.

The incident occurred on the Iserse to Tijoco trail, in the municipality of Adeje, shortly before 1:30 PM. The Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands received the alert requesting medical assistance for the affected individual.
Personnel from the Tenerife Fire Department reached the hiker and collaborated with the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) helicopter crew for the aerial evacuation. The transfer was made to the helipad in Adeje.
Upon landing, staff from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) and Primary Care from the Adeje health center provided initial assistance to the patient. Subsequently, the man was transported to Hospiten Sur University Hospital for specialized medical attention.
