The Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey, one of Canary Islands' most emblematic hotels, celebrated its 75th Anniversary with a grand 1950s-themed party, gathering over 140 guests.

The evening, dedicated to commemorating the history, identity, and future projection of the establishment, was attended by institutional representatives, authorities, business leaders, prominent figures from Tenerife society, and media. The hotel's gardens, main hall, and entrances were transformed into a period setting, featuring classic vehicles, costumed actors, and live jazz music.

"The Mencey is a clear example of how hotel excellence can coexist with local identity and sustainability, values that define Tenerife's position in international markets."

the CEO of Turismo de Tenerife
The Cabildo de Tenerife, owner of the property, and Grupo Iberostar reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the hotel as a benchmark for the city, where history, culture, and hospitality converge. During the event, the hotel's importance as a destination ambassador and its role within the island's tourism strategy were highlighted.

"The Mencey is an inseparable part of Santa Cruz's collective identity and the recent history of our city. For 75 years, it has been a symbol of excellence, hospitality, and international projection."

Since its inauguration 75 years ago, the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey has been much more than a hotel: it has been a meeting point for the social, cultural, and political life of Tenerife. Conceived as the “Grand Hotel of Santa Cruz” and designed by architect Enrique Rumeu de Armas, this establishment, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, is consolidated as the city's only five-star hotel and one of the great historical references in tourism in the Canary Islands.
Its neo-colonial style, privileged location next to García Sanabria Park, and exceptional service have made it an emblematic place for the people of Tenerife. The collaboration between the Cabildo de Tenerife and Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has been fundamental to modernizing the hotel without losing its historical essence, reflecting the vision of quality, excellence, and sustainable tourism on the island.
