The National Geographic Institute (IGN) reported the detection of three earthquakes in the Canary Islands during Monday, April 20, with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 2.7.

The seismic movements were specifically located south of Tazacorte, in La Palma; in Vilaflor, in Tenerife; and in an area of the Atlantic Ocean. The most intense tremor, with a magnitude of 2.7, was recorded in the Atlantic, while the other two reached magnitudes of 1.7 and 1.5 respectively.
The Tazacorte tremor occurred at 06:35 AM at a depth of 26 kilometers. Subsequently, at 10:46 AM, another was registered north of the archipelago, with a depth of 32 kilometers. The last of the three, near Vilaflor, occurred at 12:21 PM and had a depth of 12 kilometers.
In addition to these three events, the IGN recorded four other earthquakes over the weekend. Three of these took place on Saturday in Guía de Isora, Fuencaliente, and two in the Atlantic, with magnitudes between 1.5 and 1.8.

"Although the earthquakes that occur on the islands are not usually particularly strong, it is always wise to be prepared and know how to act in such a situation."

In the event of an earthquake, the IGN recommends staying calm, ducking and covering under a table, moving away from windows and falling objects, and if outdoors, keeping a distance from buildings and power poles. If driving, it is advised to stop the vehicle in a safe place and remain inside.
