The romantic comedy Los amantes, starring Kiko Hernández, Sara Maqueda, and Fran Antón, is set to be performed in Gran Canaria and Tenerife during May, promising laughter and reflection on contemporary family models.

Produced by Michi Vílchez, the play will begin its island tour on May 15 at the Teatro Auditorio de Agüimes in Gran Canaria. Two days later, on May 17, the company will move to the Paraninfo de la ULL in Tenerife. Tickets for both performances are already available for online purchase.
Following its recent premiere in Jaén, Los amantes has embarked on a national tour. The theatrical production benefits from the experience of Kiko Hernández, known for his television career and for selling out previous theater productions. This new comedy aims to offer audiences a fast-paced, humorous experience with a message that encourages questioning contemporary family structures.

"It's a classic comedy of errors in its structure, but with a very modern approach."

Fran Antón · Actor, director, and producer
The main cast includes Sara Maqueda, an actress with experience in musicals, and Fran Antón, who is not only an actor, director, and producer but also Kiko Hernández's real-life partner. The plot of Los amantes revolves around a love triangle that becomes complicated, leading to awkward and amusing situations. The main characters, Martín and Lucía, are a happily married couple whose lives change with the appearance of Martín's close friend after a night of partying.
Fran Antón explains that this seemingly simple starting point triggers a series of extreme situations, misunderstandings, and games of appearances. The play's humor arises from the situations themselves, rather than easy jokes, as the audience is always one step ahead of the characters, creating comedic tension. Beyond the laughter, the play invites reflection on the diversity of family models, offering a relevant moral for today's society.

"The humor comes from the situation, not from easy jokes."

Fran Antón · Actor, director, and producer
The artistic team emphasizes that theater should stir consciences, and Los amantes fulfills this purpose by inviting the audience to debate the decisions they would make in similar situations. The play's creation process was marked by constant laughter during rehearsals, which, according to Fran Antón, contributes to its naturalness and connection with the audience.
Comedy is a complex genre requiring millimeter-precise accuracy, as not everyone finds the same things funny. The key, according to the professionals behind Los amantes, is to build comical situations without forcing laughter. The play is dynamic, with extensive dialogue and constant twists, posing a challenge for the actors, but the enthusiastic audience response confirms the success of the production.
