The Caminos de vuelta cycle of the Filmoteca CajaCanarias continues its program with the screening of the feature film El olivo (2016), directed by Icíar Bollaín. The session will take place on Monday, September 21st, at 7:00 PM at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Entry will be free until full capacity.
The film tells the story of Alma (played by Anna Castillo), who is convinced that the only way to bring back her grandfather, who stopped speaking years ago, is by recovering the ancient olive tree that the family sold against his will. Alma embarks on an adventure with her uncle, a colleague, and her friends to find the tree, which has been replanted somewhere in Europe, and return it to the family farmhouse.
Anna Castillo won the Goya Award for Best New Actress for this film.
The Caminos de vuelta cycle aims to bring audiences stories of characters who face difficulties in their return home, voluntarily give up returning, or decide to settle outstanding debts with their place of origin.
