The initiative, which will take place this Friday at Espacio Mutua Tinerfeña starting at 5:00 PM, primarily seeks to create a space for reflection and dialogue on the evolution of women's role in sports and the pending challenges. The conference is supported by the Club Deportivo Tenerife Foundation, the Autonomous Sports Organization (OAD), and the Equality and LGBTI Department of the City Council.
Registration for this event is free, although capacity is limited, and one hundred attendees have already confirmed their presence. The official opening will be led by Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, mayor of La Laguna and president of the FES, and will feature an address by Elisa Aguilar, president of the Spanish Basketball Federation.
“"The high level of this conference, which will bring to the city leading women in different disciplines, who will offer us their vision of how the female role in the world of sports has evolved and the challenges that still remain to be achieved in areas such as disability or the inclusion of other social groups."
The president of the OAD, Badel Albelo, emphasized the importance of these actions for advancing equality, while Dailos González, Equality councilor, highlighted sports as a driving force for cohesion and a school of values. Both underscored the institutional commitment to real equality in all sports areas.
The conference agenda, detailed by Jordi Bercedo, technical director of the FES, includes several discussion panels. The first will feature footballer Natalia Ramos and basketball player Laura Herrera, moderated by journalist Fátima Febles. The second panel will bring together Judit Rolo (swimming) and Omaira Perdomo (volleyball), along with Paula Claverie, project director of the C.B. Canarias Foundation.
