The La Laguna City Council has launched a series of renovation works at the La Laguna Market, aiming to modernize its facilities and address structural issues that have persisted since its provisional relocation in 2007.

The interventions focus on accessibility, climate control, and service upgrades, with the goal of providing a more comfortable and functional space for both vendors and customers.

"Throughout this year, we have focused a large part of our efforts on aspects such as the accessibility of this public infrastructure, restoring part of the plaza's pavement, removing obstacles, and eliminating damaged tiles that could pose a risk of falls."

Among the most notable improvements are the expansion of passageways and the elevation of flower stalls onto a specific platform, thus facilitating access for people with reduced mobility. Additionally, the issue of overheating in the central building has been addressed with the installation of awnings and custom blinds, complemented by a review and upgrade of the existing air conditioning system.
Another addressed demand has been the comprehensive renovation of the three existing restrooms, including one adapted for people with disabilities, and painting work in camera areas and the waste room. A technological innovation is the implementation of a visitor detection system that will register if a person enters the premises more than once, allowing for more precise monitoring of capacity and foot traffic during different time slots.

"This tool helps us understand the busiest time slots, allowing us to reorient our future revitalization actions."
