The Fundación CajaCanarias is bringing the first edition of the Enraizados concert series, an initiative dedicated to local talent, to a close this Friday, September 18. The closing event will feature singer-songwriter Marilia Monzón and visual artist Cristina Ortega, a finalist for the 2025 CajaCanarias Manolo Millares Award.
The recital will begin at 7:00 PM in the Conference Hall of the Espacio Cultural CajaCanarias, located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Tickets are available for a symbolic price of 5 euros and can be purchased on the foundation's official website.

Marilia Monzón, a Canarian singer and composer, blends tradition, roots, and contemporary sensibility in her music. After her participation in Operación Triunfo 2018, she has established her own artistic proposal inspired by the landscape and culture of the Canary Islands. Her debut album, Prenderé una Velita (2023), features a delicate pop-folk repertoire produced by Juanma Latorre. Monzón has maintained an active live performance schedule, appearing at prominent festivals in Spain and Latin America, solidifying an artistic projection that combines authenticity, emotion, and a strong musical personality.
To complement the musical performance, Cristina Ortega will transform the hall into a perfect stage. A graduate in Fine Arts with a specialization in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture, Ortega's work combines textile craftsmanship and ceramics to reflect on the body, manual labor, and contemporary production systems. Through modeling, embroidery, and pattern making, she explores the memory of gesture, fragility, and forms of resistance against the logic of efficiency. She has undertaken residencies at CAAM, the Martín Chirino Foundation, and OB Studios, and has received accolades such as the Young Artist Plácido Fleitas Award.
