Alejandro Morales Mansito is set for a new presidency at the Interinsular Football Federation of Tenerife (FIFT) after achieving resounding support in the electoral process. The candidate described the outcome as a victory for the sport itself, stating that "football is what has won" and that this backing demonstrates "football has a voice and decides" who should lead the institution for the next four years.
Morales Mansito addressed the alternative candidacy of Ramón Hernández, expressing surprise at arguments such as an alleged "disconnect with football" or poor relations with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). "That disconnect does not exist, because football has spoken and has been clear," he stated. He denied tensions with the RFEF, highlighting his good rapport with president Rafael Louzán, whom he described as an "intimate friend," while acknowledging occasional differences in territorial requests.
Looking back will not serve me any purpose
Looking ahead to his next term, Morales Mansito has set the unification of all Tenerife football, including "dissenting voices," as a priority. He defined himself as a "non-grudge-holding" person and stressed that "football is above all else," advocating for "working together." Another priority will be the fight against violence in grassroots football, a problem that, while contextualized by the large number of weekly matches, "must be eradicated."
We have tried to open the windows and doors of the Federation
The candidate reviewed his first four years in office, highlighting the Federation's "modernization" through the implementation of a strategic plan and digital tools. He emphasized the growth of women's football, describing it as an area that "did not exist" and has seen a significant increase in registered players. He also valued the development of futsal and beach soccer, promoted by Juan Manuel García Nel and Jordan Abreu respectively. Morales Mansito confirmed the "total support" of CD Tenerife, which he called "the flag of Tenerife football," and announced that they are working to attract new national events to the island in collaboration with the RFEF.
