Among the tools highlighted by the authorities are two advertising exclusion registries, designed to protect consumers from unwanted communications.
The first is the Lista Robinson (Robinson List), a free service that allows users to avoid advertising from companies to which they have not given their consent. This system is effective for various channels, including phone calls, postal mail, email, and SMS. Once registered, only companies with explicit consent will be able to contact the user.
The registration process for the Lista Robinson is quick and simple, requiring only filling out a form on its official website and verifying the registration via a link sent by email. Afterwards, users can specify the channels through which they do not wish to receive advertising.
Similarly, the Lista Stop Publicidad (Stop Advertising List) offers the same objective and is also free. Both voluntary exclusion lists are regulated by Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on Personal Data Protection and guarantee of digital rights, which obliges companies to consult these registries before sending any type of advertising communication. Individuals over 14 years old can register, and minors can do so through their parents or guardians.
