The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has begun installing new fencing in the Tahodio ravine, located between Residencial Anaga and the La Alegría neighborhood, with an investment of nearly 130,000 euros to enhance safety and prevent falls.

This project, scheduled for completion within three months, primarily involves raising the height of the existing walls along the ravine's edges. The aim is to improve pedestrian safety in the area and deter people from using the edges as seating, thereby reducing hazardous situations.

"With this action, the City Council aims to improve pedestrian safety in this area."

The enclosure will be anchored as close as possible to the edge to discourage improper use. This intervention addresses a local demand and the ongoing need to enhance safety in sensitive urban areas, as indicated by municipal sources.

"We are acting to prevent risks and offer greater peace of mind to those who pass through the area."

the Councilor for Public Services and First Deputy Mayor
The Councilor for the Anaga District emphasized the importance of this measure for residents, who had long been requesting improvements in this section. The project seeks to address a real concern and enhance the quality of life in the neighborhood.
Part of the ravine is located in Residencial Anaga and another in the La Alegría neighborhood, also benefiting residents of the Centro-Ifara District. Work on this project began last year from the district, and due to its scale, Public Services finalized the plan to secure the entire ravine edge in Residencial Anaga. The intervention includes several distinct sections along José de Zárate y Penichet street, from the gas station to the end of the road.
