One injured in kitchen fire in La Laguna home

A man has been transferred to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital after suffering smoke inhalation and moderate burns in a fire that broke out in the kitchen of a home in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife.

The incident occurred on July 8, 2026, at 6:54 PM, on Calle Volcán Nevado del Ruiz. The Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert about a fire in a building in the Las Chumberas area.
The activated emergency services included the Consorcio de Bomberos de Tenerife (Tenerife Firefighters Consortium), which deployed a Heavy Urban Pump, a ladder truck, and a Nurse Urban Pump. Personnel from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) with a basic life support ambulance also attended, along with the Local Police and the National Police.
Firefighters extinguished the flames, which were concentrated in the home's kitchen, and ventilated the property. SUC personnel attended to the injured individual and transferred him to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital. The Local and National Police secured the area and collaborated with the other emergency resources.
