The 'Salvemos el Rastro' platform has organized a rally in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to demand the return of market stalls to the area surrounding the Nuestra Señora de África Market.

The group, established four months ago, aims to highlight the dissatisfaction of vendors with the current location on the Avenida Marítima. According to the organizers, the current site has led to a significant drop in active stalls, falling from the original 410 to just over two hundred each Sunday.
Protesters denounce the failure to meet commitments made by the Santa Cruz City Council. The relocation was initially justified by security concerns, with promises of installing tents, restrooms, and catering services that, according to the group, have yet to be fulfilled.
The situation has caused a divide among merchants. While some demand an immediate return ahead of the summer season, other sectors warn that ongoing pedestrianization works around the Nuestra Señora de África Market make a return impossible in the short term, advocating for maintaining operations at the current site.
