The Gran Canaria Island Council has scheduled the nighttime closure of the South Highway (GC-1) between July 5 and 8, 2026, due to electrical infrastructure works.

The traffic restriction will affect the section between kilometer points 28+000 and 37+000. The closure will take place during the night, specifically from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM, to facilitate the installation of a new high-voltage power line.
Due to this intervention, all vehicle traffic will be mandatorily diverted via the GC-500 road, which connects the La Aldea Blanca junction to the vicinity of Puerto de Mogán.
Island authorities have requested that drivers exercise extreme caution when traveling through the area, strictly following the temporary signage installed and reducing speed during the construction period.
