During his address at the Foro de Amigos del Sur de Tenerife, organized by the company FAST, Rayco García, majority shareholder of CD Tenerife, described the club's situation upon his arrival as "a Tenerife that was bleeding out." He stated that his "heart" compelled him to join the project, despite "very high tolls," including financial ones, to acquire shares from various inactive shareholder groups.
García, who also had a personal connection with the club from its youth academy, noted that the fanbase was "disengaged" and had "lost faith." He explained that, at 40 years old, he felt it was time to bring "energy" and a "generationally younger" perspective.
“"There was a Tenerife that was bleeding out and my heart told me I had to get involved."
Regarding the territorial aspect, García expressed his ambition to fully integrate the island's south, which he referred to as a territory "never conquered by Tenerife." He proposed, for example, establishing a club store at Reina Sofía Airport to offer souvenirs to visitors, highlighting the potential for improvement in marketing and fan relations, aiming for "the person who comes to our offices with a problem to leave with a solution."
Furthermore, CD Tenerife recently announced that its season ticket campaign has surpassed 3,157 members, under the slogan #TanNuestro. The institution aims to reach 17,000 members for the upcoming season, which begins on August 14th. The Segunda División calendar will be released on Tuesday, June 30th.
