The special operation will be active between 17:00 and 05:00 hours the following day, aiming to prevent congestion, reduce risks, and ensure road operability for potential emergencies. Four control points will be set up on the main access roads: TF-21 (La Orotava and Vilaflor), TF-24 (La Esperanza), and TF-38 (Chío).
The measure seeks to avoid the traffic and improper parking issues that occurred during previous Perseid events, which saw over 2,000 vehicles concentrated. General private car access will be prohibited, although exceptions will be made for goods transport vehicles, regular public transport, buses with more than nine seats, emergency vehicles, essential services, and authorized personnel or those staying in park establishments.
To facilitate visits, TITSA will provide an extraordinary bus service from La Orotava, La Esperanza, and Vilaflor between 19:30 and 02:30 hours on the nights of August 12 and 13. Information points will also be set up in Chío, La Esperanza, La Orotava, and Arafo to warn drivers and offer alternatives.
The coincidence of the Perseids, with peak activity expected between 04:00 and 06:00 peninsular time on August 13, and the partial solar eclipse visible in the Canary Islands on the 12th, is expected to increase visitor numbers to Teide, renowned for its clear skies ideal for astronomical observation.
