The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has launched the Trulenque program, offering trips to La Gomera for seniors over 60, with registrations open until April 16.

This first-edition initiative aims to promote active aging and social well-being among residents of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Interested individuals can register via the municipal website, and the final list of selected participants will be published before April 29.
To participate, applicants must be over 60 years old, reside in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, have a maximum dependency level of Grade 1, and be users of the City Council's active aging programs. Places will be distributed equally among the districts, prioritizing those who have not participated in other social tourism programs.
The program includes two two-day, one-night trips. The first will take place on May 20 and 21 with 34 participants, and the second on June 3 and 4 with 36 people, totaling 70 beneficiaries. The trips cover land transportation, double room accommodation, full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and guided tours.

The only cost to participants will be the boat or plane travel, which the organizing agency will manage directly at the most economical price available.

Necessary companions or guardians will have their travel expenses covered by the contracted company. Additionally, groups will be accompanied by an experienced guide specializing in working with seniors, responsible for coordinating the itinerary and cultural activities.

"This first edition is a pilot experience that seeks to bring active and healthy leisure closer to residents over 60, fostering coexistence, social participation, and the emotional well-being of those who participate."

José Manuel Bermúdez · Mayor of Santa Cruz

"This program is another example of this City Council's commitment to the elderly in our city. We want them to continue being protagonists of their own lives, to enjoy, to travel, and to feel accompanied, because Santa Cruz takes care of its seniors."

José Manuel Bermúdez · Mayor of Santa Cruz

"The SC Trulenque program is not just a trip; it is an opportunity to combat loneliness, strengthen bonds, and improve the well-being of our seniors. We are very excited about this first edition and trust that it will be the beginning of an initiative that will be consolidated year after year."
