The Cabildo de Tenerife has launched a strategy in Madrid to reconnect with young Tenerife residents living off the island, offering them job opportunities in emerging sectors and facilitating their return.
The initiative, which began this Wednesday, aims to build a bridge between talent that emigrated from Tenerife and the island's business fabric. The main goal is to create a stable contact network that allows Tenerife professionals in the Spanish capital to explore employment options and consider returning.
“
"The intention is to bring together people who at one point left the island to study, train, or work, and to open a path for them to return if they wish. The goal is to build a community that allows this talent to maintain its connection with Tenerife and find real opportunities to return."
According to a survey conducted by the island corporation, seven out of ten Tenerife residents who have emigrated express a desire to return at some point. This data is crucial for the Cabildo, which seeks to promote active return policies focused on offering quality employment.
The institution highlights that Tenerife is generating new opportunities in areas such as biomedicine, the aerospace sector, and audiovisual production. These fields are demanding qualified profiles and are presented as attractive avenues for the return of young professionals who have developed their careers elsewhere.
“
"These types of meetings precisely seek to connect talent and business to favor the return of professionals to Tenerife. The lack of direct contact between both parties often makes it difficult for these opportunities to materialize."
Sixto Lecuona, co-founder and operations director of Hunger4Innovation and event organizer, emphasized the need for companies to find qualified profiles and the difficulty in locating them, even in the Canary Islands. Therefore, he considers it essential to create these meeting spaces that not only connect prepared young people but also forge medium and long-term links between the business sector and professionals.
