The Tenerife Island Council, through Metrotenerife, and the La Laguna Tenerife club are extending their annual collaboration to promote the basketball team's season ticket campaign, using the tram network as advertising space.
This initiative, now in its fifteenth year, aims to connect support for the island's representative team in the Liga Endesa and Eurocup with the promotion of public transport use. The campaign will be displayed throughout August on 17 mupis along Line 1 of the tram.
Eulalia García, the Island Councilor for Mobility and President of Metrotenerife, and Eusebio Díaz Mejías, General Director of La Laguna Tenerife, presented the alliance at the Fundación stop. García emphasized the support for Club Baloncesto Canarias, a key sporting reference on the island, and encouraged the use of public transport for sporting events, highlighting the 24-hour visibility offered by the mupis.
Eusebio Díaz expressed his gratitude to the Tenerife Island Council and Metrotenerife for their continuous backing, calling them entities they are very proud of for their year-round involvement.
“
"From the Mobility area of the Tenerife Island Council, we are once again supporting Club Baloncesto Canarias this year, one of the great sporting references of our island, by collaborating on their season ticket campaign. And, of course, from the area, we want to encourage everyone to enjoy major sporting events using public transport."
“
"for the support in the season ticket campaign and their involvement throughout the year; they are two of the entities that always collaborate with us and of which we are very proud."
The collaboration also includes ticket giveaways on Metrotenerife's social media profiles for matches played at the Tenerife Santiago Martín Sports Pavilion, thereby fostering loyalty among tram users towards the aurinegro team. The club, in turn, will promote the use of tram Line 1—particularly the Hospital Universitario stop—as the ideal, convenient, and sustainable mode of transport for attending the new season's games.
